I thought I should clarify again that this is NOT a Technical blog. it was a mistake on my part to post some technical content here (when i still didn’t have a domain). I intend to keep this non-technical, and might as well remove the technical posts in this blog.

TBG: huh? “THAT” is your “NAME”????
me: (a sarcastic smile)
TBG: you India?
me: Yes
TBG: Chapaaathi?
me: haha?
TBG: aaahhhhh… Indiaaaa… chapaaathiiii (starts singing “eechik daana peechik daana”)
me: (what the …..????)

Time: 9:15am

me: I have filled up all these forms. Is there something else I need to fill up?
TBG: (takes back all the papers and scans through them) Well Mr. Bangalooor…(sounded lke Langoor )
me: errr… yeah?
TBG: (still looking at the papers) Mr. Bangaloooor, were you born in “Rajendra”?
me: (@#$%^&!@#$%%^&*) NOOO. I was born in “Narasimha Murthy” (!@#$%!@#$%)

My New Blog Location

Am not into blogging at all nowadays, but i liked the UI and simplicity of layouts in wordpress, so thought of leaving my imprints here as well

Disclaimer: this is just an analysis/post-mortem of the movie and not a review, so those who havent watched the movie might not understand what i am trying to convey!

Yogaraj Bhat has proved that Mungaru Male was not a fluke with his latest film “GAALIPATA”. Film which will neither be remembered for its story nor for the ‘take-home’ moral lessons, but for some stupendous performances from Ganesh & Bhavana Rao, and for amazing camerawork from Rathnavelu & his team, and for the picturisque locations of Kodachaadri and other places in Karnataka, and ofcourse the trademark dialogues of Yogaraj Bhat.

As i told earlier, this Yograj’s movie doesn’t have a story (yet again) if you are looking for one!! But it has all the formula to keep you engrossed for 2.5hrs, all thanks to Ganesh, who at times looks like he is still in MM’s hangover, but manages to make us laugh with his comic timing nevertheless. Ganesh dominates the other 2 heros completely in this movie. Amongst the ladies, the newbie Bhavana Rao rocks. She hardly ever gives us the feeling that she is a newcomer (unlike Diganth and Rajesh Krishna).

First the negatives,
1. Stupid climax – I just dont understand what Yogaraj was trying to show? is it that he wanted to show something more exciting than the Jog Falls shots in MM? Next time onwards i know what to expect from Yogi regarding the story and especially the climax…. NOTHING!

2. Performances by Diganth, Rajesh Krishnan and Padmaja Rao – Diganth looks good only in patches, he still has a long way to go before he can be termed even a decent actor. Rajesh shows on his face that this is his first movie, very amateurish (cant stop comparing him to Jadeja in his first movie!!). Padmaja Rao screams through out the movie and looks funny (and irritating) in senti scenes.

3. Yogaraj Bhat – in his direction and editing, looks lethargic to say the least. Song picturisations could surely have been much better. He looks very much inspired by Shankar, especially in songs “bedaru bombe” and “na dheem tana”. Climax is simply pathetic. I thought he has wasted Anant Nag. Scenes involving the wild-boar are very amateurish.

Now, the positives (which over-rule the negatives)

1. Gani a.k.a Ganesh – the biggest plus point of this movie. He is simply brilliant in his dialogue delivery and comic timing and acting as a whole. He has that charm to enthrall his fans in every single scene of his. He has learnt the trade of cinema pretty fast i must say!

2. Cinematography by Rathnavelu – I dont have words to praise him and his work. Absolutely stunning. Even though he has enhanced the pictures at most places, i hardly felt he overused the technology anywhere.

3. Music by Harikrishna – even though its not comparable to MM’s music, it surely negates the non-existing storyline. Some songs lingers in our minds, especially Sonu’s “Minchaagi neenu baralu”. BGM in the movie is nothing great, but not bad either.

4. Bhavana Rao – what a debut!!! I just loved her throughout the movie (unlike her fellow debutant!!). She was more like Kareena in Jab We Met, a power packed performance in those short scenes of hers, almost flawless i must say. She has managed to steal the limelight from other seasoned actresses like Daisy Bopanna and Neetu. Neetu was quite good as well, Daisy is wasted completely.

5. Rangayana Raghu – as Gani’s father. Even though he has very less screen space, he has managed to give another rocking performance (must praise Yogi for his dialogues as well). On the second thought, to contradict myself, I feel its hightime he gets out of his stereotypical dialogue delivery!

All in all, its complete paisa-vasool movie, very nice entertainer, loved it especially since me and my friends could relate to the characters in the movie.
